International Applicants to Bachelor’s Programs

Do you hold a foreign university entrance qualification and would like to apply for a Bachelor's program, a teaching degree or a state licensing course at TU München? If so, you're in the right place!

  •  Are you still uncertain whether you qualify as an international student (i.e. with your foreign university entrance qualification)? Click here for more information!

1. CHECKING THE EQUIVALENCE OF YOUR UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE QUALIFICATION

You will need to have your foreign university entrance qualification checked to make sure it qualifies you to study at a university in Germany.

Initial information is provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Admission Database.

  • If you still have questions, contact the Bavarian Certification Recognition Office (Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle). Please note that special conditions apply to certain countries.
  • Once you've determined that your degree certificate qualifies you to study at a university in Germany, you are free to apply for study at TU München.
  • If you determine that your degree certificate qualifies you to study at a university in your country but not in Germany, you'll be required to complete an assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung). Bavarian universities offer a Studienkolleg program, a two-semester preparatory studies course that will prepare you for the assessment test (more information on the Studienkolleg). Once you've passed the assessment test, you are free to apply for study at TU München.

2. PROVIDING PROOF OF GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS

If you wish to enroll in a German language program at TU München, you must provide proof of adequate German language skills.

3. UNI-ASSIST

You must have your foreign university entrance qualification evaluated to determine whether it entitles you to study all subjects (general qualification) or only certain subjects (subject-specific entitlement) and to determine which grades you have on the German grading system.

  • Your documents (preliminary documentation, known as "Vorprüfungsdokumentation" VPD) are verified by uni-assist e.V. on behalf of TU München
  • Please apply for your documents to be verified by uni-assist (more information on how to apply). It is very important that you submit your application before the deadline! You may submit your preliminary documentation after the deadline.
  • Uni-assist will send you the preliminary documentation corresponding to your verified certificates by mail.

4. APPLYING ONLINE

Please send your application to uni-assist and to TU München at the same time, and before the application deadline:

  • You will apply using the online portal TUMonline: Here, you will create an account (only one account per applicant)..
  • The application wizard will guide you through the application process step by step.
  • You will then submit your online data to TU München.
  • Important technical tips relating to online applications.

  • Submission deadlines for Bachelor's programs, teaching degrees and state licensing courses:
    winter semester – July 15
    summer semester – January 15

  • Please send certified copies of your documents. Documents that are not in German or English must be translated into German by a court-registered translator or sealed with an apostil (more information on certified copies).

  • Please do not submit originals, rather certified copies of your documents. TU München cannot accept any liability for unsolicited originals of certificates. Please note that all documents submitted are digitized and destroyed after a certain period of time.

  • You must submit a complete set of documents (including certified copies of certificates) for each application.

  • The TU München will not accept documents that include postal charges for the recipient.
