The Deutschlandstipendium at TUM

Both TUM students and our partners in industry share in the benefits of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship program. It enables talented students to tap their potential and puts our industry partners early on in contact with highly-qualified specialists and leaders of tomorrow. The traditionally close ties of the TUM to industry partners and civic-minded foundations have made it an exceptionally successful participating member of the scholarship program.

300 Euros per month. Your individual achievement is what counts — not merely your grade point average. TUM is interested in students who take on responsibility and master their own unique life path, be it as a young mother or perhaps the child of immigrants. “For TUM, supporting talented students means providing them with opportunities,” explains TUM President Wolfgang A. Herrmann. More information

Foster young talent with your contribution to the Deutschlandstipendium — and get to know some exceptional individuals. The Deutschlandstipendium is a fund-matching program with two partners: the state and private sponsors in the form of companies, foundations, and individual donors. Each partner contributes 150 Euros per month to the scholarship fund, investing in our greatest future resource—highly-skilled young professionals. More

Important information in brief

  • An initiative of the German federal government: Since 2011, the Deutschlandstipendium has been supporting talented students whose backgrounds indicate an outstanding academic performance. The funding is split equally between private sponsors and the Federal Republic of Germany. In the medium term, 8 percent of all students at German universities are to benefit from the program. www.deutschlandstipendium.de
  • TUM is an exceptional partner: Since the introduction of the Deutschlandstipendium, the TUM has won the support of enough private sponsors to completely exhaust the maximum funding quota set by the BMBF. In 2012 TUM will award over 260 scholarships. Learn more

TUM’s success as a member of the Deutschlandstipendium program is indicative of its commitment to supporting its students’ achievement. “We do our utmost to award as many scholarships as possible,” says TUM President Wolfgang A. Herrmann in an interview with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This support is what attracts talented young students to the university and enables them to tap their potential to its fullest. Half of the scholarships awarded by the TUM in 2012 within the scope of the Deutschlandstipendium program were awarded to women. Its goal is to become the most attractive technical university for female students. To the full Interview (available in German only)
