Honorary Citizens

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) confers the title of Honorary Citizen on persons who, by virtue of their voluntary activities, have made a long-term contribution to promoting civic-mindedness around the university community.

The following persons have been granted this honor:

Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Christian Leicher was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2019.

Carmen Würth was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2017.

Theo und Friedl Schöller Foundation

Friedl Schöller (1925–2014) was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2009.

Member of the board of the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation, formerly board spokesman of Nixdorf Computer AG

Dr. Horst Nasko was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2008.

CEO of Bayernwerke AG (retired)

Dr. Otto Majewski was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2006.

Senator E.h. Dr. h.c. Theo Schöller (1917–2004) was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2002.

Co-founder of the “Forum Universität – Gymnasium”,  chairman of the Bavarian Association of Philologists

Rainer Rupp was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 1999.

Initiator of the Fritz and Lotte Schmidtler Foundation

Fritz Schmidtler (1914–2005) was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 1998.

Heinz-Peter Scholz (1925-2019) was made an Honorary Citizen of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 1996.
