Sustainability Award

The Sustainability Award recognizes promising new research that holds the potential to make a decisive contribution to the ecological transformation of our economy and society.

The Sustainability Award has been awarded since 2019. The following people have received the award:

Prof. Fottner, Professorship Materials Handling, Material Flow, Logistics (TUM School of Engineering and Design)
Prof. Fröhling, Professorship Circular Economy (TUM Campus Straubing)

Prof. Dr. Johannes Fottner and Prof. Dr. Magnus Fröhling received the 2021 Sustainability Award "for their outstanding commitment to the establishment of the interdisciplinary research network CirculaTUM and their associated research on the transition to a resource-conserving circular economy."

Chair of Land Surface-Atmosphere Interactions (TUM School of Life Sciences)

Prof. Dr. Anja Rammig received the Sustainability Award in 2020 "in recognition of her outstanding research in Interactions between land surface and atmosphere".

Werner Siemens-Chair for Synthetic Biotechnology (TUM Department of Chemistry)

Prof. Dr. Thomas Brück received the Sustainability Award in 2019 „in recognition of his excellent research achievements and biotechnology innovations for the economically viable and climate-friendly conversion of atmospheric carbon dioxide and residual biomass streams into high-value active substances and materials“.
