acatech - German Academy of Science and Engineering
acatech was founded in 2002 and grew in 2008 into the German Academy of Science and Engineering, which is jointly funded by the federal and state governments of Germany.
Members are admitted to the academy on the basis of their scientific achievements and reputation and are drawn from the fields of engineering and the natural sciences as well as from the humanities and social sciences. New members are admitted solely on the basis of nomination and election by existing members.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Ann-Kristin Achleitner was elected a member of acatech in 2014.
Full Professor at the Friedrich Schiedel Endowed Chair in the Sociology of Science (TUM School of Governance)
Prof. Dr. Sabine Maasen was elected a member of acatech in 2014.

Prof. Dr. Roland Bulirsch was elected a member of acatech in 2003.
Full Professor of Theoretical Computer Science and Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (Department of Informatics)
Prof. Dr. Wilfried Brauer (1937–2014) was elected a member of acatech in 2002.
Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering
Prof. Dr. Horst Lippmann (1931–2008) was elected a member of acatech in 2002.
Professor Emeritus of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry (Department of Chemistry)
Prof. Dr. Hubert Schmidbaur was elected a member of acatech 2002.
