    The Munich Data Science Institute takes off

    Data Sciences have the potential to fundamentally change research and innovation. The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is consolidating its relevant expertise at the recently founded Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) in order to use advanced theory and multidisciplinary, data-driven research to facilitate quantum leaps in innovation with major scientific, economic and societal significance. The scope of MDSI activities will cover TUM's wide spectrum of academic subjects, which is unique throughout Europe.

    TUM Venture Labs take support of high-tech start-ups to a new level

    The Technical University of Munich (TUM) and its affiliated institute UnternehmerTUM are launching an initiative – unique in Europe – to support start-ups rooted in top-level research: In key technological fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum engineering and healthcare, TUM Venture Labs will work with promising start-up teams, providing them with tailor-made support concepts, incubation spaces, training and venturing programs and access to global networks of companies and investors. The goal of the new innovation centers is to make Munich the leading European hub for technology start-ups.

    Fighting corona with machine learning

    The Bavarian Research Foundation is funding five research projects on Covid-19

    The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is starting five new research projects that focus on the coronavirus and the search for new active ingredients. For example, the use of algorithms could ensure a more precise classification of the illness in the future. New therapeutic methods and the targeted prevention of the long-term effects will also be researched in other projects. The Bavarian Research Foundation (BFS) is funding the projects with around € 1.5 million.

    ERC supports pioneering research projects at TUM

    European Research Council awards five starting and two proof-of-concept grants

    From new methods for examining individual cells, physical basics of the reactions of vascular systems and the development of better prognostic methods for osteoporosis to intelligent tools for urban planning and the investigation of the nature of dark matter: the European Research Council (ERC) will fund seven future-oriented projects from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), five starting grants and two proof-of-concept grants.

This prognosis is the result of a survey of more than 200 experts on digitization, artificial intelligence and technology in Germany by the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Münchner Kreis.

More information provided by Messe München: +++ The Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MSRM) of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is exploring new directions with automatica, the leading international trade show for automation and robotics. At the 2020 edition of automatica, from December 8–11 2020, the MSRM will present a unique platform, entitled munich-i, to promote the exchange of ideas on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. The goal is to bring together the world's leading experts and responsibly drive the development of these technologies.
