Nanyang Technological University honors TUM President Herrmann
Honorary doctorate from Singapore
Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam presented Prof. Wolfgang A. Herrmann with the certificate of the Doctor of Science honoris causa during the academic anniversary celebrations at the NTU. It is the chemist’s twelfth honorary doctorate.
Herrmann, who has held the office of President for the past 18 years, is still one of the most frequently quoted German chemists throughout the world. He is particularly well known for his research in catalysts, the efficiency of which is controlled via so-called N-heterocyclic carbenes within a broad spectrum efficacy. He is the author of roughly 800 scientific publications, and is a contributing editor to several monographs and book series.
Since 2001, Singapore has become the most important international location for the TUM.
