The leading business newspaper Handelsblatt has again rated business studies at the Technische Universität München (TUM) the best in Germany. Among all German-speaking universities, the TUM School of Management ranked third, moving ahead two places in comparison to the last ranking in 2012. Only the Swiss universities of St. Gallen and Zürich did better.

TUM maintains its top position nationwide in business studies and stands clearly ahead of the German competition: the University of Hamburg in sixth place and the University of Frankfurt in eighth place. The Vienna University of Economics and Business and the University of Vienna took fourth and fifth places respectively.

For this biennial ranking, Handelsblatt evaluates studies that researchers from the German-speaking countries have published in the most important international journals. More than 2000 researchers and more than 1000 journals are factored into the assessment. Analysis of the data is performed by the Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zürich.

In just a short time, the TUM School of Management has taken its place at the forefront of the German universities. Founded in 2002, it distinguishes itself through transdisciplinary studies linking economics and business with the technical, natural, and life sciences in which TUM is traditionally strong. At present, 30 professors teach and conduct research at the TUM School of Management.
