Edition No. 11 of our science and technology magazine "Technologist" is here! Research from TUM in Technologist No. 11

Cover story "Smart Food":

  • Edible Packaging: With the goal of reducing the amount of marine debris Horst-Christian Langowski, director of the Chair of Food Packaging Technology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), is studying various bioplastics production methods.
  • An App a Day...: Christina Holzapfel, visiting scientist at the Chair of Nutritional Medicine, and her team are working on the development of strategies to improve the eating behavior in adolescents and young adults.

Lessons in "lean"

The network TUM.wood is a cross-disciplinary collaboration of seven professors involved in wood-related research. Hermann Kaufmann and the leanWOOD project is one of them. Alongside his international Team he is developing models that precicely coordinate each process needed in prefabricated timber construction.

Machines as caregivers: Smart furniture

Smart furniture can help the elderly to remain independent and keep them living at home longer. Thomas Bock, director of our Chair of Building Realisation and Robotics, is working on furniture wich can monitor a persons health or even can be able to locate and fetch objects.
