Munich ranks first in the "Monocle Ranking" – also thanks to excellent universities

Munich most livable city in the world

Once a year, the British magazine "Monocle" selects the most livable cities in the world. This year, a German metropolis leads the ranking: Munich. As advantages of the Bavarian state capital, the magazine mentions the many greens, the clean public transport – and the excellent universities. Large parts of the accompanying video "Munich: the best of everything" were shot at the Technische Universität München (TUM).

Munich ranks first in the list for the third time after 2007 and 2010. In addition to the criteria mentioned above, the ranking also includes, for example, health care, the crime rate, the business climate or the education system. Explicitly mentioned here is university education and research, which in the fields of biotechnology and computer science is an important factor for Munich's already strong IT and engineering industry.
