Presenter
René*e Reith

Together with her queer, transfeminist team, Hamburg-based choreographer, performance artist and dance scholar René*e Reith is staging an interdisciplinary performance that combines contemporary dance, biographical performance and choreographic sound design.

The focus is on the Hamburg trans artist and sex worker Liddy Bacroff, who was persecuted and criminalized under National Socialism and murdered in the Mauthausen concentration camp in 1943. She is considered one of the first trans women in Germany to be known by name and is today an important point of reference for queer remembrance culture.

Based on previously unpublished literary, autobiographical and philosophical texts from her imprisonment, which were researched in the Hamburg State Archive, the performance follows those ghosts that continue to work in bodies and return because something remained unfinished. In an interactive installation, the audience's bodies themselves become carriers of memory and imagination. Against the backdrop of increasing trans hostility, the work sees itself as an artistic contribution to a polyphonic queer culture of remembrance.

  • On  June 20, the TUM Center for Culture and Arts is offering an excursion for students to this performance. The PATHOS team has offered to be available for questions afterwards.
  • limited number of tickets are available for participants at a price of €12. Please register vie the registration link. The payment will be handled after registration.
  • The excursion is part of our TUM tanzt! festival.
