Manga have something like an invisible soundtrack that you piece together yourself as you read. And in musical theater, stories aren’t created by music alone. In this workshop with artist Läm Phetnoi, we’ll bring together the worlds of manga and music. Students will learn the basics of manga drawing and develop their own characters and stories. We’ll also experiment with how to visually represent sounds and musical moods through drawing.

We’ll draw inspiration from the new music theater project “crypt_” by Japanese composer Yuri Umemoto. No prior experience is necessary! To wrap things up, we’ll attend the world premiere of “crypt_” together at the Muffathalle.

  • TUM students have the opportunity to visit the workshop for 5€. You can register directly with Laura Nerbl (Münchner Biennale): vermittlungspam prevention@muenchnerbiennale.de Details about the workshop “listening to manga, seeing music?
