TUM Shop at Main Campus:

From Isarkindl to powerbanks

Your mobile phone needs to be charged and there is no socket you can use? A TUM-design powerbank can help. The small power station is one of many products that are sold at the new TUM Shop at Main Campus. Peter Zarnitz (AStA) and a group of students helped to establish the shop.

Alain M.G. Kathola has now been working as a consultant at the Service Office for Disabled and Chronically Ill Students for eight years. For TUMstudinews, he talks about his workdays and about the problems of those who are affected.


Anne Nyokabi from Kenya:

“I’ve always had big dreams”

What TUM student Anne Nyokabi has to tell sounds like a modern fairy tale: She grew up in very poor conditions in Kenya and dreamt of being able to study. Then, Anne met a German tourist family that changed her life. In an interview with TUMstudinews reporter Sabrina Czechofsky, she reports why she has had luck on her side ever since.


Service stations in Garching:

Many TUM students commute to Research Campus Garching by bike. In case of a flat tire, pushing your bike all the way home can be quite a strain – but that’s over! TUM will establish bicycle maintenance stations at all the campuses.


German and English language services on common platform:

Video2Brain has been moved to the Lynda platform. That means Lynda now offers both German and English language videos.

As of the summer semester 2017, the University Library offers new courses. The focus is on electronic media and on strategies for literature research.


New regulations for borrowing books:

As of April 4, 2017, the University Library will not revoke extended lending periods any more. If there is no other reservation, the lending periods of borrowed books will automatically be extended by another four weeks.

In 2017, the  motto of the TUM’s ideas competition “Academicus” is “Making ideas visible”. It could be worthwhile to join in, as the best ideas are rewarded with 500,- €.
