Garching: The science night "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" on June 27, 2015

The "Wissenschaftscampus" in Garching, one of the largest centers for research and teaching in Germany, will open its doors for a "long night of science" on June 27, 2015. More than 30 facilities will be open from 6 pm to midnight, featuring an extensive program with experiments, guided tours and lectures that provide exciting insights into the world of science and research. Also, there will be live music on the stage of the GARNIX festival. More information: Program "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften"

Sporting at GARNIX: The Campuslauf in Garching

Take part in the 3rd “Campuslauf” on Saturday, June 27, 2015! The run, which covers a distance of 6 kilometers, starts at 4 pm in front of the stage of the GARNIX Festival (next to the Faculty of Chemistry, Lichtenbergstraße 4 in Garching) and is open to all students, doctoral students, staff and alumni of TUM. Please register online. If you want to take part as a team, please send an additional email to to inform us about the team name and the names of the team members.

Re-enrollment for Winter Semester 2015/16

Please remember to re-enroll for the Winter Semester 2015/16 until August 15, 2015. The total sum is now 113 Euros (2 Euros higher), made up of 52 Euros for the Student Union and 61 Euros as a solidarity contribution for the semester ticket.

Clean Tech Award 2015: your energy for the TUM campus Garching

How do you think the energy turnaround could work out? Do you have ideas for a promising energy concept that could contribute to its success? If so, take part in the ideas competition "CleanTechCampus" which focuses on the search for new concepts in terms of energy generation, storage, distribution, regulation or energy saving that can be implemented at Campus Garching. Submit your application until July 31, 2015.

New in summer: Holiday care for kindergarten-children

TUMfamily now offers holiday care for kindergarten-children: For 3 to 6-year-old children of TUM students and staff, from August 10 to 14, 2015, from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm. For now, the offer is only available in Munich (city). Cost: 15 € per day (plus meals), there are a maximum of 15 places available. Photo competition "Go East"

Did you ever travel to the east during your studies? If so, take part in the 2015 photo competition and send us photos you took during your stay abroad in the eastern and south-eastern countries of Europe, in Russia, China, India or Southeast Asia! The International Center is looking forward to lots of interesting photos that, for example, reflect the history and culture or document the technical and economic progress of these countries. Explaining and asking – a course for tutors

Explaining and asking surely belong to the basic elements of communication. With regard to teaching, this course (in German) by ProLehre is supposed to impart simple techniques of using clear and comprehensible language despite scientific complexity, of asking the right questions, of focusing on interaction and on "thinking together". James Dyson Award 2015: the submission-phase will be ending soon

Young designers and future engineers can submit their project ideas to the international James Dyson Award 2015 until July 2, 2015. The prize money for the international winner is 37.500 Euros. The task: Develop something to solve a problem. Who can participate? Anyone who is studying product design, industrial design or engineering at a university or a university of applied science. If you want to start preparing for a career as a manager or a founder, you might want to apply for the entrepreneurial training program "Manage&More", for which UnternehmerTUM selects 20 students of the universities in Munich every semester.
