Mobile Advice

Students who need advice do not necessarily have to pay a visit to the “Studentenwerk” any more, now that there is the option of mobile counseling. How it works? If necessary, a consultant will visit the respective students, for example at one of the Studentenwerk’s student dorms or at the respective university – in order to work out solutions, to take first measures to address problems, to arrange for further consultation or to address other contact persons. THINK.MAKE.START: A new application period in January

THINK.MAKE.START is a practical and interdisciplinary course in which it is possible to develop and build innovative products together with other Master’s students in just 14 days. Experts from industry and research will provide you with the necessary knowledge about methods and technologies, and they will also help you to develop a business concept. You can use the 1.500-square-meter high-tech workshop “MakerSpace” to build your prototypes. On the last day, the so-called “Demo Day”, all the teams will present their projects to a panel of experts and to guests from the industry, other start-ups, and the university. Who will be “Student of the Year”?

The “Deutscher Hochschulverband” (DHV) and the “Deutsches Studentenwerk” (DSW) will soon be awarding the prize for student commitment for the second time. The prize money of 5,000 Euros is provided by the “Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft”. The DHV and the DSW will honor a student or a student team for outstanding commitment beyond achievements that have to with the actual course of studies. Proposals can be submitted until December 31, 2016. More information: "Student of the Year"

The “Semesterticket Munich” is safe

The students in Munich have cast their votes and the decision is clear: at all three universities, the majority of the students voted “yes”. The conditions are: a solidarity contribution of 66.50 € (compulsory for all students, allowing to use the public transport service between 6 pm to 6 am, as well as on weekends and public holidays) and the voluntary IsarCard semester for 193 € (which can only be purchased after paying the solidarity contribution, and which allows to use the entire MVV transport network without limitations). The prices are valid for the summer semester 2017 and the winter semester 2017/18. After that, the price will be linked to the “Ausbildungstarif II”. The contract term is 5 years, with an option to be renewed on an annual basis. More information: Semesterticket München
