Brain doping and good decisions
Two interesting lectures at TUM: Prof. Isabella Heuser, Director of the Department for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Charité Berlin gives a lecture on "Neuro-Enhancement – does ‘brain-doping’ help us?" When? On June 20, 2013 at 7 p.m.! And on June 27, 2013, Jochen Turbanski – a freelance trainer – gives a lecture on "Who decides here? The art of a good decision", starting at 7 p.m. Where? Both lectures will take place in Room 0540, Main Campus.
A week abroad: Athens-Program
Fancy a short exchange trip within Europe? The Athens-program offers you a one-week-stay at one of 24 universities abroad. 30 hours of intensive courses on natural sciences, technology and general knowledge are offered – plus an extensive cultural program. The next exchange program will take place from November 16 to 23, 2013. Students from all the TUM faculties can take part if they have reached the 3rd year of bachelor studies. The application-phase starts on June 27.
Singers wanted: TUMChor
Do you like singing and/or are you even an experienced singer? If so, join: The TUMChor is still looking for singers for the concerts in 2013. The choir first performed on the stage of the Philharmonie im Gasteig at the Advent Matinee in December 2012. Join us! SKANDALØS Festival: Art & Energy Project
This summer, artistic and scientific approaches will meet up for a common research laboratory on the premises of the SKANDALØS Festival. Place and time: July 9 to 23, 2013, in Northern Friesland. There will be enough space for camping and working. Tools will be provided. Small power generating devices are to be conceptualized, built and later be exhibited during the festival. 2 weeks in Shanghai
The International Students Exchange Program of the Shanghai Open University enables you to travel to China for two weeks – from August 11 to 23, 2013. The trip includes a language course and an exciting program focusing on history, art and culture. A successful concept since 40 years: The career fair IKOM (Industriekontaktmesse) offers a lot of opportunities to get to know companies and to make first personal contacts. If you are trying to find a thesis for your diploma, bachelor's or master's degree, if you want to learn about possible internships and student jobs or if you are about to enter professional life, you should pay a visit. The IKOM will take place from June 24 to 27, 2013, at the MW Faculty Garching from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"Fast Forward Science": Web video competition
As of now, students, scientists and science communicators of all disciplines can apply with a web video focusing on science and research. The videos must explain a current scientific topic correctly, have to be published in 2013 and to be uploaded to the video-portal YouTube. The winners will be awarded with prize money totaling 20,000 Euros. Application deadline is August 31, 2013. How will mankind communicate with each other in the future? What technologies will be used and how will our future means of communication change people or societies? The Zukunftspreis Kommunikation seeks to answer these questions. Students from any university or departments can submit their ideas, visions or concepts. The prize money is worth a total of 10,000 Euros. Closing date is September 1, 2013.
