Presidential Entrepreneurship Award Ceremony 2016
The TUM Presidential Entrepreneurship Award 2016 went to Orcan Energy, which offers products to generate electricity from waste heat. The technology at the heart of these products was developed at the Chair for Energy Systems. Prof. Dr. Thomas Hofmann, Vice President of Research and Innovation at TUM, conferred the award on behalf of President Prof. Dr. Herrmann. The award comes with a 10,000-euro prize and is endowed by the Bund der Freunde.

In addition to the eventual winner Orcan Energy, Kinexon and Invenox were also nominated. Kinexon provides real-time localization and 3D movement detection systems for people and object and Invenox manufactures battery systems. Teams that have already secured an initial funding round and whose business models can expect high potential for growth are nominated for the TUM Presidential Entrepreneurship Award.
