Kick-off for the European "flagship partnership" between TUM and Imperial College

London delegation visits Munich

A delegation of the Imperial College London (ICL) with president Alice Gast visited the Technical University of Munich (TUM). After the two universities had launched their "flagship partnership" in London in October 2018, professors from various departments came together to promote joint research projects in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and medicine. TUM is one of ICL's three priority partners, alongside the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA and the Chinese Tsinghua University.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of both governments. Bernd Sibler, Bavarian Minister of State for Science and the Arts, welcomed the cooperation between the two universities and emphasized the importance of such close partnerships. ICL President Alice Gast and TUM President Wolfgang A. Herrmann highlighted the great academic and cultural intersections between the two universities. These overlaps also became evident at the round table discussion "Research for the Challenges of the Future", where interdisciplinary working groups quickly got together in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data or medicine.

Following this, the London delegation visited the TUM´s Central Institute for Translational Cancer Research TranslaTUM and its 5600 square meters of state-of-the-art laboratories.
