Enrollment in Two Degree Programs
In general: If you study on Campus Munich, Garching or Weihenstephan you have to pay the solidarity contribution for the semester ticket. This fee has to be paid once each semester in any case.
If you are enrolled in two degree programs at TUM (parallel studies), you have to pay the basic student union fee only once.
If you are enrolled in two degree programs within Bavaria, you have to pay the basic student union fee only once.
If you are enrolled in two degree programs and the other one is outside of Bavaria, you will have to pay the basic student union fee at TUM. Please contact your other university to find out whether you have to pay the fee there as well.
Students in teacher training
Students in teacher training programs at LMU and at TUM must only pay their semester fees once, to either LMU or TUM, as follows:
- Students in teacher training programs for upper secondary or intermediate schools and for elementary / general secondary or special schools pay student fees to LMU.
- Students in teacher training programs for vocational schools pay student fees to TUM.
In order to document your payment to LMU, please submit your LMU proof of enrollment and payment.
Please note: As a student in a degree course with state examination with a first subject at LMU and second subject "sports" at TUM, you no longer have to supply separate proof of your re-enrollment at LMU to TUM (from summer semester 17). The enrollment at TUM will be continued automatically via data transfer between the universites as soon as you re-enroll within the designated deadline at LMU. Learn more
This does, however, only apply to re-enrollment. If you enroll at LMU with a second subject at TUM for the first time, i.e. at the start of your studies, you need to bring proof of your enrollment and the payment of the semester fee at LMU to TUM once.
Submission of the thesis, last exams
As a rule, you need to remain enrolled until you have taken your last exam in order to complete your studies successfully.
If, at the end of your studies, you take an examination which is allocated to the previous semester within the first week of the lecture period, and do not intend to take any courses, you do not have to re-enroll. This also applies for oral exams which are part of the mandatory examinations stipulated in the academic and examination regulations.
The student status is withdrawn at the end of the last semester you have re-enrolled in, not retroactively. For the submission of your thesis enrollment is, however, mandatory.
For the legally binding regulations, please refer to §14 of the General Academic and Examination Regulations for Bachelor's and Master's Programs at the Techical University of Munich.
