Dear students,
In the past few months, we have been able to observe how applications of generative artificial intelligence have become established in everyday student life. As TUM, we are open to the use of these new technologies. For example, a campus license for Grammarly has recently been made available to you free of charge. With the help of this software, you can easily check your English texts and improve them grammatically and linguistically. For everyday university life, the use of AI tools has far-reaching consequences. The distinction between own performance and technically generated content threatens to blur, teaching and examination formats must adapt and new competencies come into focus. We want to create a framework in which the new tools do not become a substitute for learning content, but offer opportunities to strengthen one's own skills. If you would like to further deepen your expertise in this area, there are again numerous extracurricular offerings available to you for this purpose in the winter semester, for example our plug-in modules. For now, however, I wish you a successful conclusion to the summer semester, much success in all upcoming exams, and a restful lecture-free period.
Yours cordially, Gerhard Müller Senior Vice President Academic and Student Affairs
