Academic Awards and Honors

Numerous Nobel Prizes, Leibniz Prizes and Humboldt Professorships: Academics of the TUM are regularly honored with major science awards. The university also confers some prestigious awards and honors of its own.

The Nobel Prize has been awarded annually since 1901 and is recognised today as the highest accolade for achievements in chemistry, medicine, physics, literature, economics, and for contributions to world peace.

University of Excellence

As announced in July 2019, TUM has secured the title "University of Excellence" for the third time in succession. This makes it the only technical university in Germany to have held the title consecutively since 2006.
