The “Success Team” format is a form of peer-based case consultation in which four to six people support one another in achieving a (professional) goal. Career-related challenges are discussed systematically and with a focus on results within a confidential group.

Discuss with your colleagues the current challenges you face in your day-to-day work as a science manager at TUM. Our Science Management MeetUp: Success Team invites you to share your experiences with your colleagues and develop concrete ideas on how you can achieve your goals even more effectively. Our coach and “Success Team” expert, Dr. Raphael Müller-Hotop, will introduce you to the method and moderate the discussion.

A career in science management has become an increasingly attractive option. But what does working in science management actually involve? What are the requirements and career prospects? And how can one successfully enter the field?

This workshop is aimed at doctoral candidates and postdocs who are interested in pursuing a career in science management.

With the increasing internationalization of universities, leaders are increasingly required to have intercultural competence in team management. The course raises awareness of cultural differences in collaboration and their significance for effective leadership in international work contexts. Key theories and models of intercultural leadership and teamwork are presented and discussed together. Building on this, participants receive practical recommendations and tools for effectively leading international teams, constructively utilizing cultural differences, and successfully shaping collaboration in international working groups.

Finding and promoting the best talent is central to the success of scientific institutions. But how can you design your recruitment process in such a way that people from different cultural, personal, and professional backgrounds are attracted to your team and work well together? In this workshop, we will teach you how to recruit professionally and benefit from the latest research findings.

Structure

We present evidence-based methods for recruiting, selecting, and retaining talent. The following questions are addressed: How do I recruit the best employees for my unit? How do I ensure that new employees are well integrated? We work with you to transfer the theoretical knowledge you have gained into your daily practice. This is done through short exercises in which you try out personnel selection techniques individually or in small groups (e.g., designing requirement profiles, evaluating application documents, applying interview and conversation techniques). You will also benefit from exchanging experiences with your colleagues regarding personnel selection.
