Our Partners

Whether it’s to make new discoveries through basic research or develop technical solutions for people and society, in our efforts to find answers to central scientific questions we collaborate with prestigious partner institutions – from Munich’s unique ecosystem for science and innovation to research institutions around the world.

Intensive dialogue with our partners, particularly non-university institutions, also opens up new research possibilities and career paths. Overview: Associated institutions (TUMonline)

The Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers and TUM are connected by joint professorial appointments and close research collaborations, especially at the Helmholtz site in north Munich. TUM researchers based there tackle central issues of health and the environment.

TUM collaborates closely with the Max Planck Society (MPG) on fundamental scientific questions. Several Nobel laureates are alumni of our university or have served as professors here. We have particularly close relationships with Max Planck Institutes in and around Munich, especially on the Garching Research Campus:

Renowned experts from our university lead unique Leibniz Association research institutions at TUM.

Not only can the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and the Humanities count numerous TUM researchers among its members, it has also appointed leading experts from our university to lead its internationally renowned research institutes.

Fostering talent together

Attracting and educating promising, talented minds is a basic precondition of excellent research. This is why we, together with our partners, have established joint programs to support and promote internationally outstanding young researchers.

In Munich’s unique innovation ecosystem, we have close links with research institutions, industry partners and the city’s lively start-up scene.

In the interdisciplinary research projects supported by the Excellence Strategy of the Federal Government and the Länder, we combine our strengths with university and non-university partners so that together we can find answers to most pertinent scientific questions of our time.

Tackling global challenges together – through strategic partnerships with outstanding research institutions around the world.

Strong partners: Science and business

Accelerating the transfer of technology from cutting-edge research to society – successful cooperations with industrial partners help to do just that.
