A premiere for the Dies Academicus in 2020: on December 3, TUM held its annual celebration completely online for the first time.

This way, more people than ever before were able to follow the event – with a total number of almost 10,000 views of the live event and the recording so far. The video of the event can still be watched via tum.de/dies – with English subtitles if you wish.

Academic year 2021/22: Dates and deadlines

Study doubts and reorientation

The TUM General Student Advisory Service is once again offering an information session on study doubts and reorientation for English-speaking participants – on January 13, 2021. The event is aimed at students who have doubts about their studies or their choice of degree course, who would like to find out more about support options in difficult situations (e.g. learning difficulties, self-doubt, lack of motivation), and/or who need advice regarding a forced or voluntary drop-out. Erasmus: Apply now for a semester abroad in 2021/22

Would you like to get to know your European neighbors, gain intercultural experience, and expand your professional and language skills by means of a stay abroad? If so, go and apply for an Erasmus exchange stay within Europe – until January 14, 2021 (at 12:00 o'clock), via the TUM application portal. Student Initiatives Day 2021 online

The Student Initiatives Day is back: it will take place on January 18, 2021 (from 2 pm to 5 pm), in a new online format. For the first time, you'll have the opportunity to get to know 40 different initiatives – without leaving your comfortable couch: a unique opportunity to exchange ideas with innovative projects and numerous initiatives, and maybe find the perfect pastime alongside your studies. Lunch with the President

A possibility to meet the President of our university in person – to exchange opinions and ideas, to ask questions… The TUM Presidential Student Lunch is a rare opportunity: Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann will meet up with students from different faculties for personal exchange. A short application is required in advance. The next Student Lunch events will take place on February 1, 2021 (for students of the School of Life Science) and on February 4, 2021 (for students of the Faculties of Medicine and Sports and Health Sciences). Due to the Corona pandemic, both events will be held digitally. Additional lunches are being planned for spring 2021. More information and applications: TUM Presidential Student Lunch

euMOVE: Mobility for Munich

Interested in an interdisciplinary student project, mobility innovation, and hands-on research experience abroad? In the summer semester of 2021, the European Mobility Venture (euMOVE) will enter its second round – and students from all scientific disciplines can track and analyze mobility trends in different cities in Europe and gain insights for Munich. Applications have to be submitted by February 15, 2021. euMOVE is held in English. More information: euMOVE 2021

Online offers from TUMi

TUMi, the orientation program for international students also offers a lot of events in times of Corona – exclusively online, of course. One highlight is the interactive online language café every Tuesday from 4 pm to 6 pm. As always with TUMi, all events are open to all TUM students, not just the international students. Virtual sports offers for TUM kids

Kids of all members of TUM – including the students – can now take part in kidsTUMove offers. Under the motto "kidsTUMove goes online", there will be a virtual camp during the 2021 Carnival vacations, with challenging activities focusing on sports, health, nutrition, self-esteem, and environmental topics. Registration will be open from January. To bridge the time and as a pastime for the extended Christmas vacations, there will be sports and craft activities in the winter edition of kidsTUMove goes online. TUMcampus with a new look

"Gemeinsam am Puls der Zukunft" – this is the title of the extensive interview with President Thomas F. Hofmann in the new issue of TUMcampus, our university magazine. He talks about his first year in office, about his exchange with students and other members of the university in times of the Covid-19 pandemic, and about the big issues of the future. Further topics of the magazine, which has been given a new look with the current issue, are: how the TUM Venture Labs are paving the way to becoming a European innovation center, how the first shaft power plant combines climate and nature conservation, plus a portrait of medical ethicist Prof. Alena Buyx, who has chaired the German Ethics Council since the spring.
