    President Hofmann greets first-semester students in person on campus

    University President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann finds it "the best event of the year": On Monday he was able to welcome thousands of new students to the Technical University of Munich (TUM) during the first-semester reception on the Garching campus. For the first time, as many as approximately 14,000 students have matriculated for the 2021 winter semester at TUM. 4,000 of the new students won in the lottery for party invitations and gathered together outdoors in front of the TUM Department of Mathematics.

    TUM Straubing campus continues to grow

    Bavarian Minister-President Söder opens new "Sustainable Chemistry" laboratory building

    The Technical University of Munich (TUM) Straubing campus for Biotechnology and Sustainability is continuing its expansion. On Thursday the approximately 4,200 square meter new Sustainable Chemistry research building was officially opened by Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder. The building is a milestone for the emerging campus and in the mid-range time frame will be home to 30 professorships and a strong influx of students. TUM President Thomas F. Hofmann said, "I am convinced: The answers and solution strategies for the major challenges of an ecologically-based future economy will increasingly originate in Straubing!"

    Dr. Markus Söder praises cutting-edge research 'Made in Bavaria'

    Bavarian Minister-President tours climate gas sensors at TUM

    Bavarian Minister-President Dr. Markus Söder recently visited a research station for greenhouse gases in the urban environs of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). During the tour he emphasized the significance of climate change as the greatest challenge of our time. "We can only reduce emissions efficiently if we understand them. This is unique international cutting-edge research, 'Made in Bavaria'," Söder said Monday. The Minister-President was on the roof of a TUM building learning about a sensor network for measuring greenhouse gases which is unique worldwide.

    Award for TUM start-up socialbee

    Start-up places recognized refugees and socially disadvantaged individuals in jobs

    The start-up socialbee, a product of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), has been honored with the 2021 Audi Generation Award. Zarah Bruhn founded the company in 2016 during her TUM Master's degree studies in Business and Technology. socialbee works to actively integrate recognized refugees and socially disadvantaged individuals in the labor market and in society.

    High-tech ecosystem around TUM continues to grow

    Work kicks off on new SAP research center on Garching campus

    The international software company SAP and Technical University Munich (TUM) are ramping up their long-standing collaboration: Wednesday marked the official start of work on a new research center, the SAP Lab Munich Campus, located on the TUM campus in Garching. When the doors open in 2023, the new building will house around 600 SAP employees and 120 TUM researchers, active mainly in the field of informatics, who will focus on joint innovations for the sustainable digital transformation of the economy and society.

    TUM opens new department building

    The Technical University of Munich (TUM) continues its robust growth, opening a new building for the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy in Ottobrunn on Monday. The building will be the future core of TUM activities at its Ottobrunn site southeast of Munich. The objective is to create Europe's most important university research and teaching center for aerospace and aviation, said university President Thomas F. Hofmann.

    The State of Bavaria is supporting the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and a consortium of industrial partners with a total of 15 million euros in their efforts to develop the first prototype of an artificial intelligence-based factory ("KI.FABRIK") in Bavaria by 2030. Multifunctional, highly sensitive robots will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to co-work with humans both directly and over long distances.
