3rd issue of “fatum”-magazine:

Dreams and Truth

What does our behavior in social networks have to do with how we see ourselves and our fellow human beings? The new issue of “fatum”-magazine covers this and many other exciting topics. This time, the magazine on Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society at TUM focuses on “Dreams and Truth”.

Is this the distinction between what is apparent and what is real – or do dreams have their own reality, possibly even a special kind of truth? The section “Was ist das…?” ("What is that…?") features brief introductions by three experts:

Dr. Jennifer Windt discusses current developments in the field of dream research from the perspective of the philosophy of mind.

Prof. Dr. Petra Gehring shows why dreaming and being awake can only be understood as two sides of a difference. JProf. Dr. Elena Ficara explains why searching for truth is one of the main objectives of philosophy and illuminates the potential of philosophical theories of truth.

Students as editors

The magazine is published online and in print (the circulation of the current issue is 1,000 copies) by a group of TUM students from the Master’s program Philosophy of Science and Technology. The magazine is distributed free of charge in the course of a release tour to the three TUM-sites and is available in the TUM's main library. In September, the editors presented the magazine at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

You can find all articles of current and past issues on www.fatum-magazin.de. The editorial board appreciates feedback regarding the magazine and welcomes students who would like to join the team in the areas of editing, finance, illustration or design.
