The App is supposed to be a mobile addition to the already existing functions in connection with the online application. The most important features are:

  • Direct submission of documents: Students can take pictures of documents such as bank statements or their parents' tax returns with their smart phone or tablet and send them directly to the responsible office. Before, it was necessary to upload scans of such documents.
  • Determination of responsibility: The App helps to find out which BaföG-office is responsible, enabling the user to make a phonecall or to send an email directly from the app. Another feature is a route planner that helps to determine the office's visiting address.
  • For anyone who already owns the new Identity Card, the App can save a visit to the post office, as it offers the possibility to go completely without paper documents.
  • Status messages: In the case of a change in application status, the applicants are sent a push message to their smart phone or tablet – keeping you informed about your status at all times.

The BAföGdirekt-App is available for the operating systems iOS (Apple) and Android (Google). It can be downloaded to your smart phone or tablet free of charge, from the App Store or from Google Play.
