New Year's Eve, Old's Cool, and Weisswurscht

Not to be missed: Re-registration for the Summer Semester 2020 is possible until February 15.

If you want to take a leave during the summer semester, you have to give notice until April 20 at the latest. The lecture period begins on April 20. All important dates for the academic year 2020 can be found here: TUM Dates and Deadlines

Who will be "Student of the Year"?

The German University Association (Deutscher Hochschulverband, DHV) and the German National Association for Student Affairs (Deutsches Studentenwerk, DSW) have a prize for student commitment, endowed with 5,000 EUR. The prize is awarded to a student or a team of students who showed outstanding commitment beyond their academic achievements – as unique or innovative as possible. The prize money comes from the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft. Proposals can be submitted until December 31, 2019. More information: Student of the Year

New Year's Eve: Closure of buildings at Main Campus

This year, the university board of TUM once again decided to close the Main Campus on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Thus, you will not be able to access the area from 5 pm on December 31, 2019, until 9 am on January 1, 2020 – and you cannot remain on the premises during this time either.

Find your passion: Student Initiative Day

For the first time, the fair for student projects and initiatives will also take place in the winter semester. A total number of 30 initiatives will present themselves, recruit new members, and network with each other. The event is now organized twice a year by the TUM: Junge Akademie. Apply now: "Die Goldene Weisswurscht"

Young cabaret artists can apply to participate in the competition "Die Goldene Weißwurscht" until January 19, 2020. Four of them will have the chance to take part in the competition in May 2020, in the framework of the largest student theatre and music festival "StuStaCulum" in the student city of Munich-Freimann. JazzBand in January: Youngsters meet Oldies

On January 25, 2020, the TUM JazzBand will meet the professors' Big Band "Old's Cool" for a varied musical evening in the Audimax – with fat sounds, groovy rhythms, and the spontaneous moments of Jazz. Food and drink will be provided before and during the concert. As always, admission is free. Doors: 6 pm / show: 7 pm. More information: TUM JazzBand

Save the date: TUM International Day 2020

Interested in a stay abroad, eager to experience the diversity of student life? The TUM International Day, organized by the Global & Alumni Office, will take place for the third time this year. On May 13, 2020, former exchange students and international students will again present their host or home country on Main Campus. They will report on their intercultural experiences and give tips on the topic of a stay abroad. There will be food from all over the world. More information: TUM International Day 2020
