2023 Academic Dragon Boat Race on July 21

The Academic Dragon Boat Race will take place once again on Munich's Olympic lake on July 21 at 4:00 pm. Student groups, institutes, professorships and employees of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU) can register to participate and test their power with the paddle. The fastest team will sport the title "Master of the Olympic Lake" for an entire year.

Disguises count in dragon boat racing just as much as sporting commitment.

Each boat requires 16 paddlers and a drummer to keep the pace. The organizers will provide experienced boat pilots. The entry fee is 600 euros per boat. Student groups may be sponsored. There will be a total of 28 boats, with prizes not only for the fastest boats, but also for the three most original teams – creative costumes and colorful shows are definitely welcome!

Two highlights will add to the main race: The afternoon will begin with the competition between the official student boats of TUM and LMU. And before the finale, professors from the two universities will compete against one another on the water. The length of the race on the Olympic lake is 250 meters, with the finish line in the vicinity of the Theatron.
