The Singapore government has set itself the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the coming decades and becoming CO2-neutral in the next century. This goal is supported by various policy measures, such as the introduction of a CO2 tax and the increasing import of electricity from renewable energy sources from various countries. The CO2 tax is set to rise to SGD 80 by 2030. This would have far-reaching consequences for the profitability of the power plant park.
In this workshop we will show how such a development could make new technologies viable, in particular the retrofitting of existing gas-fired power plants with carbon capture technologies.
