The event at a glance

At the Garching research campus, visitors are invited to experience science in lectures, hands-on activities, guided tours and much more during the Open House. Whether young or old, there are numerous activities for every one on this day: students, staff and external guests. In addition to TUM, many other research institutions such as the Max Planck and Fraunhofer Institutes take part in the day of action.

Program highlights

  • Discover gaming, algorithms and GPS: Family lectures explore how digital technologies shape our everyday lives.

  • Experience chemistry and physics in action: Join interactive science shows and try experiments for yourself.

  • Take on the “Escape from Carbonia” Science Escape Room: The Cluster of Excellence e-conversion combines cutting-edge research with the excitement of solving puzzles.

  • See science take the stage: At the Science Slam, researchers present their work in an entertaining and accessible way.

  • Go behind the scenes of research facilities: Guided tours offer exclusive insights into institutions such as the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Neutron Source (FRM II) and the ZEITlab.

Getting to the Garching research campus

  • Underground: Garching-Forschungszentrum
  • Bus: Anna-Boyksen-Straße; Boltzmannstr.; Garching-Forschungszentrum; Technische Universität; MVV timetable information
  • Car: A9, exit Garching-Nord
     
  • Please use public transportation to get here and take advantage of the P+R parking lots in Garching-Hochbrück and Fröttmanning, as well as at the Hochbrück Business Park.

  • There are only a limited number of parking spaces available on the Garching campus.
