Inaugural ceremonies for Surgery Center North at university hospital TUM Klinikum rechts der Isar

State of the art surgery

The Surgery Center North ("OP-Zentrum Nord") was inaugurated yesterday at the Technical University of Munich's TUM Klinikum rechts der Isar hospital. The facility, featuring approximately 4,150 square meters of utilizable floor space and eight operating rooms equipped with the latest technologies, will be one of the most modern surgery centers in all of Europe. This brings the number of operating rooms at the Klinikum rechts der Isar to 43. The new building will also be home to a vascular surgery unit and an interdisciplinary intensive care unit.

The vascular surgery facilities in the new building include among other things a spacious ambulant care unit and a highly modern vascular surgery general care unit with 28 beds and a monitoring station. The new building also contains an interdisciplinary intensive care unit with 16 beds. This will bring the number of intensive care beds at the Klinikum rechts der Isar to a total of 87.

The State of Bavaria invested approximately 44 million Euros in the new construction, which architecturally forms the fourth wing of the Klinikum's existing Neurosurgery Center. This also provides the eye-catching overall structure, including its distinctive red columns, with a new and spacious entry and a stairway opening onto Munich's Ismaninger Straße.
