Open House Day at the Research Neutron Source
Every year about 1000 scientists use the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) for experiments and investigations. They perform a wide range of measurements on around 30 different instruments.
On October 3, 2019, you too can take a look at Germany's most important neutron research facility. Guided tours start in the special exhibition in the Physics Department (James-Franck-Straße 1, 85748 Garching), which is open to the public from 9:00 to 18:00.
Neutrons for science and industry
Take a look into the reactor basin and learn more about the non-destructive investigation of matter with neutrons and the industrial use of the FRM II for the production of high-performance materials and radiopharmaceuticals.
In addition, the exhibition provides a wealth of information, informative lectures, films, competitions, lego models of scientific instruments and the opportunity to have your questions answered by our scientists.
The exhibition in the Department of Physics is open to the public from 9:00 to 18:00. For all guided tours a prior registration is required. Please register online here. Only a limited number of places available.
The minimum age is 18 years. Please bring a valid identity card or passport. Without a passport, participation in the guided tours is not possible.
