Lecture and exchange
Lecture: Brewery yeasts, yeast biodiversity and yeast hunting
Event location
Lindenkeller Freising
Public event
Presenter
Mathias Hutzler
What are the special features of yeast? Come to the lecture by Mathias Hutzler, head of the Microbiology and Yeast Center departments at the Weihenstephan Research Center for brewing and food quality, as part of the TUM@Freising series and join the discussion (in German)!
Yeast is one of mankind's oldest "pets". Beer, bread and wine would be unthinkable without the "industrious yeast helpers". Mathias Hutzler tries to give the audience an understanding of yeasts, especially brewer's yeasts, in the context of beer production, biodiversity and human history. He also reports on the results of his yeast hunting expeditions to deep beer cellars and remote natural locations.
Prior registration is not necessary.
Series of events TUM@Freising
Science - explained for everyone: Meet researchers from the TUM School of Life Sciences in person and find out what they are working on. A subsequent discussion after each lecture is expressly encouraged, because science thrives on the exchange of opinions.
The aim of the event is a lively encounter - citizens can get to know the people at "their" TUM better and learn more at the same time, while science receives valuable impulses for its research work through direct feedback from the public. The close cooperation between the city of Freising and the TUM Weihenstephan campus, which has existed for many years, is now becoming tangible in the city and region.
