As an international platform for biomedical research, the Kumasi Center’s modus operandi is based on the close collaboration between KNUST School of Medical Sciences (SMS), Ghana, and the Bernhard-Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM), Hamburg. The centre is open to all scientists of other institutions, the only prerequisite is that the respective project includes a Ghanaian partner.
Prof. John Amuasi is a Lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he heads the Department of Global Health. He is also the Group Leader of the Global One Health Research Group at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany. Prof. Amuasi serves as Co-chair of the Lancet One Health Commission and leads studies on COVID-19 in Ghana. His research specializes in neglected tropical diseases and antimicrobial resistance.
