Presenter
Gerhard Preußer, Winfried Nerdinger
The lecture series “The Truth of Art in Times of Deception” by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts explores the question of what truth art has conveyed to date and how this stands today. Are common forms of truth being lost in art? Do we just have to get used to AI art and accept other forms of creativity or authenticity?
The lecture by theater critic Gerhard Preußer, with an introduction by Prof. Winfried Nerdinger, deals with the role of theater: Theater is deception, illusion, fiction, representation, appearance. This view is contrasted with the idea that art conveys a truth that does not have to correspond with the truths of science or everyday life. Is what happens on a theater stage a representation of something real and is it allowed to be?
