TUM tanzt! – Ich war das nicht!

In “Ich war das nicht!” (It wasn’t me!), no one is innocent. Everyone denies everything, blames others, and feels treated unfairly. But who can you trust? And who still stands by their words and actions? The performance is part of TUM tanzt! – a contribution by the TUM Center for Culture and Arts and the School of Medicine and Health, Applied Sports Science to the Kunstareal-Festival 2025, which brings dance to life as a bridge between science, art and community.

Free admission. Registration is recommended. Walk-ins are welcome!

Dance Performance for children (8+) followed by an interactive workshop

This fun and energetic dance theatre piece by Sabine Karb, Lisa Lugo, and Barbara Galli-Jescheck explores what happens when we can’t—or won’t—tell the truth. The performance blends expressive dance with a rich soundscape, created in collaboration with elementary school children from Munich. Drawing from their own childhood experiences, the dancers playfully show that telling the truth often isn’t as scary as it seems.

The performance will be followed by an interactive workshop for children (starting at 3:45 pm). Together with the dancers, children will create their own choreographies based on the themes of the piece. Movements and scenes from the show will be explored and expanded with their own ideas. At the end, anyone who wants to can share their creation on stage. No prior dance experience needed!

Voices from the jury at Südwind Festival 2023: The everyday question of who’s to blame is playfully varied, thoughtfully explored, and abstracted through dance—yet never fully resolved. The result is a small work of art that stands on its own and offers a welcoming invitation into the world of dance for everyone.

TUM tanzt! (TUM dances!) is one of the Technical University of Munich's contribution to the Kunstareal Festival 2025. Through workshops, performances, and collaborative projects, TUM demonstrates the many ways dance can serve as an expression of culture, education, and research. The events invite not only spectatorship, but participation —creating a shared space for encounter, reflection, and creative inspiration at the intersection of science and art.
