Why can some problems be solved quickly, while others - even seemingly simple ones - bring even supercomputers to their knees? Such a question lies behind one of the deepest mysteries of modern science, the "P vs. NP" problem. Originating in computer science, this problem has led to an entire field of research in mathematics that thousands of researchers worldwide are working on.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Weltge, Professor of Discrete Mathematics at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, will explore precisely this topic in his lecture. Get ready for a journey from everyday puzzles such as Sudoku to chip design and cryptography to the limits of what is computable at all.
- Admission: €3
- Members have free admission and can bring a companion free of charge
- Tickets are available from the Monday before the lecture
