Waiving your Place of Study or
Withdrawing from Enrollment

You have been offered a place of study at TUM, but do not want to accept it? Here is what you need to know.

If you do not want to start your studies at TUM, there are two options to waive a place of study:

If you have been offered admission and are not yet enrolled, you can decline your place of study in your TUMonline Account by clicking on Decline study place offer in the corresponding application.

If you have already been enrolled, you can withdraw from enrollment up to 5 weeks after the start of lectures of the respective semester. To do so, send an e-mail to studiumspam prevention@tum.de and state your enrollment number.

After waiving your place of study, the semester fees you already paid are refunded. However, if you have already earned credits or validated your Student Card in a semester, a refund is no longer possible.

Here you will find general information on reimbursement of fees.

You do not want to waive your place of study but to defer your studies? Here you will find all information on how to reserve your spot or deferring your studies.
