Principles of Teaching at TUM

A central pillar of the future concept TUM Agenda 2030 is the teaching reform, which documents the commitment of TUM to a fundamental transformation in teaching. The Technical University of Munich wants to create a framework for young talents to live out and develop their abilities, creativity and curiosity on a new level. To this end, the Technical University of Munich is questioning old habits, building new structures and developing teaching formats that transcend disciplinary boundaries. Digitization of Study and Teaching
With the goal of dynamizing the digitization process in the area of study and teaching, the CIO and the Vice President for Study and Teaching established the Digitization Study and Teaching Steering Committee in April 2021. The steering committee receives project ideas, prioritizes them, and convenes a project group if the evaluation is positive.

Evaluating Studies and Teaching
The transition to new digital teaching formats means new experiences in learning and teaching, which require special evaluation.
Firstly, both qualitative and quantitative feedback from students and teachers about their experiences with online formats was collected during the summer semester. Information was gathered on initial experiences with the transition to digital formats in different types of courses in order to identify further need for action and best practices as early as possible.
Second, a comprehensive retrospective evaluation and review of the experiences gained with digital teaching formats is conducted at the end of the lecture period.
