July 22: Public Symposium on Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition
Artificial Intelligence today and tomorrow
In the symposium "Artificial Intelligence: Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition" on Friday, July 22. researchers from Bavarian universities will talk about the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence today and how this technology will influence our lives in the future. Among the speakers are two researchers from TUM:
Prof. Daniel Cremers
Computer-based analysis of photos and videos, or "computer vision", is a central part of AI. Prof. Daniel Cremer's talk provides insights into current research and specifically addresses the area of camera-based 3D reconstruction. He outlines key challenges and addresses a variety of potential applications, from 3D photography and 3D television to autonomous driving.
Prof. Xiaoxiang Zhu
Information derived from Earth observation satellite data is indispensable for tackling major societal challenges, such as urbanization, climate change and reaching UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Prof. Xiaoxiang Zhu's talk showcases how innovative machine learning methods and big data analytics can significantly improve the retrieval of large-scale geo-information and consequently lead to breakthroughs in the above mentioned challenges.
