Semesterticket Munich:

Vote for or against the new concept

About 113,000 students from TUM, LMU, and the HM will be able to vote for or against the new concept for the semester ticket, which was recently negotiated. From Wednesday, November 2, to Wednesday, November 9, you can vote whether you agree to the new terms.

A vote for the “Semesterticket München”: At least 25% of the students of the participating universities will have to cast their vote – from November 2 to November 9, 2016. (Design / Photo: Dr. Jan Kobel/MVG; Sabrina Braun, AK Mobilität)

The Studentenwerk, the students, the MVV, and the transport companies have negotiated for several months – and an agreement was found:

  • The solidarity contribution for all students will be 66.50 Euros – for the summer semester onwards as well as for the winter semester 2017/18.
  • The optional “IsarCard Semester” will be 193 Euros.
  • Thus, the price will only be increased by 5.50 Euros, to a total of 259.50 Euros.
  • The times and the range will remain the same.

“Our aim was to keep up the successful concept of the semester ticket with the same scope of services,” says Florian Groß, the TUM’s Mobility Consultant. Nora Pohle, who represents the TUM’s students in the Senate and the University Council, adds: “We are relieved that we were able to find a compromise: For many students, this is a fine offer – and it will be valid for at least five years.”

The vote will take place online, from Wednesday, November 2, 2016, to Wednesday, November 9, 2016 on www.semesterticket-muenchen.de. After logging in with the Campus-ID, the students have the options to answer “yes” or “no” to the question whether the semester ticket is to be continued for at least five years.

In order for the vote to be valid, at least 25 percent of the students will have to participate. If a simple majority of the students at all three universities is in favor of the plans, the offer is deemed accepted. If, however, the students of at least one of the three universities vote against it, there will be no semester ticket in Munich.
