WeLead, the new event format for robotics and artificial intelligence, kicks off on November 17
Focus on women researchers
As in many fields of computer and engineering sciences, a significant gender gap also exists in robotics and artificial intelligence. This applies to research as well as the business world. Therefore the organizers of WeLead want to raise visibility for the work of female researchers and female leaders and encourage women to become active in these areas through role models. The event will be held once a year in various German cities and is aimed at the general public.
Kick-off event with two TUM scientists
At the kick off event on November 17, four female scientists will present their research work from 3 p.m. onwards. Two of them come from TUM: Prof. Laura Leal Taixé from the Chair of Image Processing and Pattern Recognition will report on how she uses computer vision to make digital map services more useful and richer in information. The second speaker from TUM is Dr. Karinne Ramirez Amaro. At the Institute for Cognitive Systems, she develops information processing models that enable robotic agents to master complex human-scale manipulation tasks that are mundane and routine.
The other speakers are Dr. Elena Garcia from the Centre for Automation and Robotics of the Spanish National Research Council and Prof. Katja Mombaur, head of the Department of Optimization, Robotics and Biomechanics at the University of Heidelberg. The weclome address will be given by Prof. Claudia Peus, Vice President of TUM for Talent Management and Diversity.
