DFG funds research on education and mobility

Two new Collaborative Research Centers at TUM

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is funding two new Collaborative Research Centers (CRC) in which the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is significantly participating. The researchers will develop new data-supported methods for mobility planning and investigate how students can be prepared for complex professional activities using simulations.

TUM LEAP wins funding for innovative teaching architecture

Individual learning pathways for students

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is reimagining academic education. With its new initiative, TUM Learning Pathways (LEAP), the university is expanding the traditional study program model to offer flexible, interdisciplinary learning pathways tailored to individual needs. Designed to prepare students for an increasingly dynamic and uncertain professional world, the project has been awarded funding in the national Teaching Architecture competition organized by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education.

Outstanding TUM educators honored

Students need one thing above all else: dedicated instructors who inspire them to grow – both academically and personally. Six TUM members have taken particularly innovative approaches to achieve this goal. In recognition of their efforts, they have received a prestigious honor: the Prize for Excellence in Teaching awarded by the Free State of Bavaria and TUM’s Certificates of Honor for Excellence in Teaching.

Wanted: Innovative projects for study and teaching

The TUM Future Learning Initiative 2025 starts

Dynamic, competence-oriented, and at the cutting edge – the teaching of the future is being shaped at TUM. Who knows better what it takes than our students, teaching staff, and alumns. The TUM Future Learning Initiative aims to support their projects and implement their ideas. The Freunde der TUM – Association of Alumni and Friends is providing a total of 20,000 euros for this purpose. Proposals can be submitted until 31 May.

TUM launches new program with support from Google

More cybersecurity specialists in Germany

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is launching a new Cybersecurity Program which will offer over 200 students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to learn more about the field of cybersecurity. Through the program, the students will also get an understanding of how the cybersecurity skills they learn in the classroom can be applied in real-life situations to help defend local organisations at risk from cyberattacks. To realise these goals, TUM is receiving up to 1 million US dollars in support from Google.org - as the only German university.

NASA is launching a rocket tomorrow (15.01.2025) with lunar landers as part of the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. Philipp Reiss, Professor of Lunar and Planetary Exploration at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), explains why, more than 50 years after the last manned mission to the Moon, our Earth satellite has once again become the focus of space research.
