Presenter
Prof. Eva Weig
On the occasion of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, the Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST) and LMU Munich invite you to a fascinating lecture: Prof. Dr. Eva Weig discusses how optomechanical components are paving the way for quantum sensors and a global quantum internet.
Optomechanical quantum technologies work with tiny, vibrating components. These sense the force of light and can thus be cooled down to their quantum mechanical ground state and controlled. Until a few years ago, vibrating components in the quantum regime were still the subject of basic research. Today, scientists are already thinking about applications. For example, optomechanical components are used in quantum sensor technology. Optomechanical technologies could also play a key role in the development of the quantum internet.
The event will be held in German. Admission is free.
