TUM’s Industry on Campus concept goes from strength to strength:
Siemens research center coming to Garching
“This historic step adds a new dimension to the successful collaborative culture that has developed between Siemens AG and the university over a period of decades,” says TUM President Prof. Wolfgang A. Herrmann after the company press conference. “It will offer particular benefits to our future generations of researchers, who will have an early opportunity to experience first-hand the interplay between education, basic research and applied research.”
“We look forward to even closer ties with academic research,” explains Joe Kaeser, CEO of Siemens AG. “We want to connect our researchers with top talent from the innovation game,” adds Prof. Siegfried Russwurm, Siemens CTO.
TUM’s Garching campus is already home to over 15,000 students, making it the single largest site at TUM. At the end of 2017, the new GALILEO center will also be complete, home to an Audimax lecture hall, campus hotel, shops, restaurants, office space and an underground parking garage.
