Als Teamleiter*in im Wissenschaftsmanagement oder als Leiter*in einer Forschungsgruppe sind Sie mit vielfältigen überfachlichen Herausforderungen konfrontiert. Da Forschung immer mehr in Teams stattfindet, gewinnen Fragen effektiver Teamführung zunehmend an Bedeutung: Unter welchen Bedingungen geben Mitarbeiter*innen ihr Bestes? Wie werden heterogene Persönlichkeiten zu Teamplayern? Wie führe ich Teams zum Erfolg? Das alles sind zentrale Fragen, die in diesem Kurs thematisiert werden.

Der Ablauf

Wir diskutieren die verschiedenen Dimensionen effektiver Führung und deren Anwendbarkeit in der Praxis. Als besonderes Angebot haben Sie die Möglichkeit, ein individuelles Führungsprofil zu erhalten. Im Kurs erarbeiten Sie konkrete Umsetzungsideen im Rahmen Ihres persönlichen Entwicklungsplans. Zudem bleibt genügend Zeit, um Fragestellungen aus Ihrem universitären Alltag zu diskutieren.

Die Inhalte

Bei der Arbeit sind Konflikte und Auseinandersetzungen aufgrund unterschiedlicher Ziele, Interessen und Sichtweisen häufig unvermeidbar. Sie sind als Wissenschaftler*in / Wissenschaftsmanager*in dabei besonders häufig in der Rolle des Vermittlers und müssen in konflikthaften Situationen alle Beteiligten „auf einen gemeinsamen Nenner“ bringen. Dafür sollten Sie Konfliktpotentiale rechtzeitig erkennen und schwierige Situationen effektiv bewältigen können. Wir diskutieren gemeinsam, wann und wie Konflikte eskalieren, wie Sie deeskalierend eingreifen können und welche Lösungsstrategien für unterschiedliche Konfliktarten angemessen sind

  • Sie erweitern Ihr Wissen über die Entstehung und Lösung von Konflikten.

Wir präsentieren evidenzbasierte Methoden zur Rekrutierung, Auswahl und Bindung von Talenten. Dabei werden die folgenden Fragen thematisiert: Wie rekrutiere ich die besten Mitarbeiter*innen für meine Einheit? Wie sorge ich für eine gute Integration neuer Mitarbeiter*innen? Die theoretischen Erkenntnisse erproben Sie in kurzen Übungen, in denen Sie Techniken der Personalauswahl anwenden (z. B. Gestaltung von Anforderungsprofilen und Interview- und Gesprächstechniken). Zudem profitieren Sie vom Austausch mit Kolleg*innen über Ihre Erfahrungen bei der Personalauswahl.

Content

LeadershipX is our new innovative and research-based lecture series for leaders: renowned leadership experts share their knowledge on relevant current topics and discuss best practices with you. This semester, we focus on a largely ignored aspect of leadership: the role of leader behavior for both employee and leader mental health.

Session 1 will challenge misconceptions about mental health in order to strengthen your ability to recognize and respond to signs of poor mental health at your workplace. In session 2, you are encouraged to reflect upon your own self-care strategies and the boundary management between work and private life domains. In session 3, we deepen the understanding of how working in a digital work environment may lead to “technostress” and discuss interventions to counteract it.

This series is specifically designed for TUM professors and senior science managers with leadership responsibilities. TUM Alumni are very welcome if there are free spots available.

The university workplace reflects an increasingly diverse and global society. Science and research institutions in Germany are recruiting talents not only domestically but also globally. As such, it is central to the success of these science and research institutions to find and support the best talents. Regardless, the challenge remains: How to select personnel so that employees with diverse cultural, personal and professional backgrounds can work together effectively? In this workshop, we will communicate how universities can benefit from the latest research in diversity and multiculturalism in personnel and staff selection.

Daher legen wir den Schwerpunkt dieses Workshops auf das konkrete Verhalten in Meetings und zeigen Ihnen Methoden zur Analyse der Interaktion: Wir diskutieren, welche Äußerungen die Diskussion voranbringen oder behindern, welchen Einfluss Interaktionsstrukturen haben und wie Meetings wirkungsvoll genutzt werden können.

Effective teamwork is essential for your success: Almost all projects require collective efforts – and this is true for both, research and management projects. In this workshop, you will learn about the key mechanisms for effective teamwork and how you can successfully promote them to increase team performance: How can you form a real team out of a group of individuals? How do different stages of team development leverage team success? Why are some team members more motivated than others and how does motivation shape goal achievement? How can you deal with conflicts in your team?

Our digitalized, increasingly dynamic, and ever more complex working world presents leaders in academia with new challenges. A digital mindset and the associated digital skills are therefore essential leadership competencies in science and science management. New working concepts require a rethink for leaders: The success of leadership increasingly depends on whether a team takes responsibility for common goals and develops a strong team identity – also in virtual collaboration. In this workshop, we will discuss five theses on leadership in the digital age and their relevance for your leadership practice.

Your Benefits

  • You receive systematic feedback from your team members through a strictly confidential online questionnaire.
  • You learn how your self-perception corresponds to the perception of others.
  • You benefit from well-proven techniques for your further development as a leader.

Methods

In a first step, we kindly ask you to complete an online self-assessment. Then, you have the opportunity to receive feedback from at least 3 to max. 10 individuals who can assess your leadership behavior (e.g. your team members, colleagues or people with whom you have worked with before). They will automatically receive an invitation to assess your leadership behavior within 10 days. Of course, only you will receive the results of the Personal Leadership Profile.

The Personal Leadership Profile is offered in collaboration with our partner everskill GmbH. Therefore, your name and email address will be passed on to everskill. Your assessment will be used in order to create your Personal Leadership Profile and, anonymously, for research purposes at TUM. Your data will be deleted after 3 months. More information on data processing through everskill.
