This presentation will first explain what exactly is meant by dementia. This is a group of illnesses in which mental capacity - such as memory, orientation or speech - increasingly declines. Typical symptoms are clearly explained, as are the differences between normal signs of ageing and pathological changes. Building on this, the role of family groups is highlighted: How they are structured, where to find them and why sharing with those affected can be particularly supportive in everyday life. Finally, participants will be given an overview of specific support services for family caregivers - from ways to relieve the burden to practical tips on how to cope with everyday life.
Participation is free of charge and is counted as working time for employees. Language of the event: German.
TUM Diversity Month
TUM is celebrating Diversity Month in June 2025 with the motto "Bridging the Gap: Allyship for an Inclusive Organization" - a month-long initiative designed to inspire discussion, learning and action. The aim is not only to support others, but also to actively create an environment in which everyone feels valued, heard and empowered.
