Academicus 2012:

The winners of the TUM ideas competition

The ideas competition <link http://portal.mytum.de/studium-und-lehre/feedback/gewinner12/document_view>"Academicus 2012"</link> is about actively improving teaching and learning conditions at the TUM. In summer, all of our students, staff, researchers, professors and alumni were able to submit their ideas and suggestions. Now the winners were picked.

Michael Hellwig, an employee at ProLehre – the department for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education – had the idea of a students’ publisher that distributes outstanding project papers, seminar papers and theses.

Michael Hoch
, an employee at the Department of Business Administration – Controlling, suggested setting up bicycle service stations at various TUM locations. These service stations could provide compressors, adapters for different types of valves, tools and other needful things for a quick maintenance check-up.

Improvement of the learning situation in the libraries

Jun Chen
, Sonja Kargl, Thomas Stauber, Maximilien Wübken are students of Economics and Computer Science. They suggested a "MyBib"-App that can provide smart phone users with information on the occupancy rate for every library and is able to offer suggestions for alternative libraries in close proximity.

Monika Ecker, a master's student in "TUM-BWL", is in favor of a parking disc system: Every library visitor will be given a parking disc when entering the library – to be set when he or she leaves the library. If the "parking period" is over before the visitor returns, the seat could be reassigned.
