Prestigious award of the German Mathematical Society goes to TUM mathematician

Prof. Herbert Spohn receives Cantor-Medal

At its annual meeting today the German Mathematical Society (DMV) awarded Herbert Spohn, Professor for Applied Probability Theory and Statistical Physics at TUM, with the Cantor Medal. It is the most prestigious scientific award of the DMV.

Professor Spohn, meanwhile member of the TUM-Emeriti of Excellence, conducts research on statistical physics, with a focus on dynamic processes. This includes the derivation of kinetic equations, the dynamics of open quantum systems, interactive stochastic particle systems, stochastic growth processes and boundary surface dynamics.
